CARRYING ON THE HARVEST, December 19, 2008 Reviewer: DC, Between The Lines Reviews The Hoophouse Handbook is a gem of a little book. Great pictures and a variety of contributing authors add credibility to this Growing For Market product. Growing For Market is a monthly newsletter for small farmers who direct-market produce and flowers.
By looking at growers around the U.S. and even a small bit about some in the UK, readers will no doubt find someone who’s project is similar to what they had in mind.
They’ve also gone to great lengths to include a broad spectrum of plants. Flowers, fruits, and vegetables are all discussed.
A section on how to deal with design problems is definitely a must read, while helpful charts, illustrations, and a resource guide are included.
If you are considering hoophouses as a way to carry on your harvest I would suggest picking up this great little book to get you started.
