This reviewer has read hundreds of books about chickens, written one, and raised thousands of birds. But, this book is more than another book about raising a small backyard flock, it is a portable work of art. The typography is fabulous and the full color photographs are impressive to say the least. This softcover just feels good to hold in your hands. In addition it is filled with accurate practical and helpful information. It starts with the basics and goes much more deeply into some areas (such as small-scale home slaughter) than other offerings I have reviewed previously. It seems like this book should sell for more, but why quibble? This is a quality softcover with 202 pages, 7" x 9", and includes an excellent resource guide.
