 | Greeting from Back 40 Books,
My name is Pat Cook. I grew up on a farm in the Missouri Ozarks, with pigs, chickens, cows, and sometimes turkeys and ducks. While in school, we milked cows for a living. We also made big gardens and canned most of our food. Growing up on a farm is a wonderful life. After school I went to work for the Postal Service. After 35 years as an employee of the Government I retired from the big office rat race and my husband and I are now Back on the Farm, (which by the way is the title of one of our books.) We have 75 acres and still have cows and chickens and still growing our own food in the garden. We have four children and nine grandchildren who love to go to Maama and Paapa's so the can run in wide open spaces and go fishing in the pond. I started working at Back 40 Books in August in 2007. What a pleasure to look out the window in my second story office and watch an eagle fly down Current River looking for a trout. On the drive to work I'm able to see squirrels, deer, and turkeys almost every day. I never thought I'd ever enjoy working on a computer. I never really knew a lot about them, but I've found out you can teach an old dog new tricks. I love my job and the people I work with are the best.
